Members barbiesdude Posted September 24, 2013 Members Report Posted September 24, 2013 Making first pair of step in armitas and wondering if leg stiffeners are neccesary for the part that wraps through the croch and around the leg? If so, how would you do a rolled edge there since it curves? Any help would be appreciated. Quote
Members bucksnort Posted September 24, 2013 Members Report Posted September 24, 2013 I have a pair of step in chinks that have nothing stiffening the leg opening. Those areas tend to stiffen a little with use because they are compressed between the leg & the saddle. I guess it might depend on how light weight your leather is. Buck Quote
Members barbiesdude Posted September 24, 2013 Author Members Report Posted September 24, 2013 Thanks Buck, I was wondering because these armitas will have to work for a living. I currently am riding in chinks that don't have stiffeners or a rolled edge and they have held up good for riding colts and training horses for the last 4 years, just didn't know if the stiffeners or rolled edge would make them last even longer. Members bucksnort Posted September 25, 2013 Members Report Posted September 25, 2013 Not a bad thought, that is the area that seems to get the most wear. Of course that doesn't help answer you question. I'll check back & see what you come up with & how it works. Good luck, Buck Quote
