Alphabet Stamps ?

Would this set of stamps be OK to use on Veg Tanned Leather or do i need to get a specific set designed for Leather ? i only want to add initials of the person i am making items for nothing fancy .

that should work. It only has to be harder than leather to work.

I've used these on leather. They work, and come in smaller sizes than the standard Tandy sets.

The only thing to note is that the letters can be quite shallow, so you only need a light tap. It takes some practice to get just the letter and not the entire tool face impression.

Good tip thank you lightingale , going to make a few small gifts for family and friends for Christmas just wanted to make them a bit more personell only thinking credit card wallets and key chains things that can be posted overseas .

Those will definitely work. But as stated, light tap! it is really easy to get too much oomph and have the letter with a nice imprinted circle around it.

I use letters like those for small projects where my makers stamp would be too big.

You can see in the attached picture where I stamped out "snakebite leather" below the ID window on the inside of this wallet.

One last question , can i retro stamp an item that has already been dyed and treated with a finish say carnuba wax ?

That would be tough to do. You would need to case the leather for these kind of stamps to work. Casing would probably ruin your finish or dye.

OK plan B then . What if i heated them up a bit to hot stamp would that work?
