this is the one I followed.

Ok, so I tried following this video -- and it is not anything like the O/U counts given in the original link to the tutorial I posted in the fist post...at all...not even close.

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I was pretty much able to follow the video, but it was really hard to see in some parts. I'm going to try again when I get home today. What I've done with the third pass is almost presentable, but there are a couple of errors...but at least it looks a lot better than what happened when I tried to follow the overs and unders in the link in the first post.

...because if so, those instructions in the link in my first post are very much incorrect. I was able to complete the knot using the youtube tutorial. Those overs/unders on the Dan Callahan tutorial I posted in the first post in this thread are just completely wrong and now I need to go transcribe them correctly for my notebook.

And now I'm angry that I wasted almost two weeks trying to follow a very flawed set of instructions.
