Members AliR Posted December 24, 2013 Members Report Posted December 24, 2013 My husband gave me an early Christmas present tonight- a used Consew 287 RB! I'm fairly new to leather working, but really excited to have this machine! Does anyone have any experience with it, or tips and tricks? Now I have to learn how to use it! Quote
Moderator Wizcrafts Posted December 25, 2013 Moderator Report Posted December 25, 2013 The specs on consew.com say it is a light to medium duty cylinder arm, walking foot machine. It claims fairly low clearance under the feet, which if true allows for not much more than 1/4 inch of material. It will be pretty good for garment sewing and light upholstery, with polyester, cotton, or thin bonded nylon thread Quote

Members owenzachary Posted January 1, 2014 Members Report Posted January 1, 2014 I have a 287-RB2 and it's a tank! It sews through anything. I put canvas and leather through it the most - even upholstery leather looks great with the stitches. I don't know what the difference between an RB - RB2 is but the only trouble I run into finding thread that it likes. I'd love to hear of any other 287RB owners out there. The clearance on mine is quite a bit more than 1/4" so if I'm making handbags they can have several layers of various fabrics and it has no problems. Enjoy your new toy!! Cindy Quote
