kflyer Report post Posted December 27, 2013 I'm pretty new to this, but I have a few simple projects under my belt so far (kindle case, card holder etc). Apparently my work looks good enough that my girlfriend is trusting me to make her an envelope-style clutch. I'm hoping to make something in this style: http://treasurenest.com.au/store/images/envelope%20clutch%20rust.jpg , but I can't quite figure out how to stitch the bottom flap of the envelope. It doesn't seem like there will be enough room to pass needles through for a regular saddle stitch. Any tips for this newbie would be appreciated. RavenAus Report post Posted December 28, 2013 If you start at the bottom of the envelope then it's easy enough. Make the stitch loosely with the flap held open and then tighten. Nuttish Report post Posted January 16, 2014 I have a piece like that. You can saddle stitch the whole thing with straight needles. One side is easy to conceptualize, right? The other is not much different once you understand that you will always be stitching away from the closed space. It's just a matter of switching hand priority.
