Hi,

I just bought my first industrial sewing machine

the man who sold it to me will change the motor for me for a slower motor

but i want to know what kind of motor i schould have for being able to sew step by step or stitch i mean

i just started making leather bags and handstitched everything so far

I would appreciate all the advice

overwelmed on all the info and would really like to get started..:-))

Thanks in advance

If you have a large pulley on your motor you can replace it with a new smaller pulley (50mm recommended) and / or add a speed reducer but it is hard to find in Europe.

Another option is a servo motor where you can dial the max. speed.

HI there. I had the same problem 2 days ago. New machine (singer 211g) to me and it had a 90mm pulley 3.5 in. I found a 40mm 1.75in pully at the hardware store for 6bucks.

Slowed my machine down by half. Very easy, just buy a belt that is shorter also. Total cost 17bucks

If you simply change the motor pulley, you save money, but lose your top speed. If you swap out the motor for a servo motor with good slow speed control, you lose nothing on the top end, but gain the slow speeds you are missing with the clutch.

Or, learn to feather your clutch for slow speeds.

Wizcraft, you say that you will lose the top speed. Since I am so new to these types of sewing machines its hard for me to see that I will be sewing at the speed it had when I 1st got it.

I can see for like upholstery or canvas shops. I can barely handle the slower machine. I know with time all of us newbies will be seasoned and want the fast speed someday.

I do want the servo motor from CowboyBob pretty soon though.

I have a servo from Bob on my 211g and it will easily sew thur 1/2 inch of firm veg tan at very slow rate. You will never regret the servo.
