lockwoodfarrier Report post Posted October 7, 2008 I have been involved in horses and cows most of my life and want to learn the art of braiding. I have been shoeing horses for 20 years and need something to stay busy. I am finnally realizing that I can't put my head between my knees forever. Not a livelihood just a hobby. I have a full time job. I live in the central coast of California and would love to work with someone on occasion to learn from. Is there anyone out there in the area that can help me. Thanks. rgerbitz Report post Posted October 7, 2008 I'm from Illinois so can't help you much with the local talent but I thought I would give you some of the books that can be useful in figuring out everything. There are more and hopefully others will chime in but these are the few I have. The encyclepdia Gail Hought and a couple of videos Bryan Nuebert There are some very good braiders around here if you get into a tight spot just start asking questions, we all learn when you do. Good luck, Rob
entiendo Report post Posted October 7, 2008 I flew to Florida for a few days to learn the basics and then I have Gail Hought's first book and this board. I've been able to figure most things out and most my stuff looks pretty good for a rookie. The the friend of mine that I learned from learned everything from Gail's books, so it can be done. I do believe Gail does do classes at her place from time to time and she is in Oregon.

cybertracy Report post Posted October 13, 2008 Thanks for the help I live between Paso Robles and King City California, in Lockwood by Lake San Antonio. If anyone close comes around let me know. Hi, I work in a Tandy in Ventura (about a two-hour drive with a tail wind) and we are planning some braiding workshops--both the manager and I love braiding. If you're willing to make the drive, we'll clear a bench spot and you can spend as long as you'd like and work on some projects. Call John or Tracy at 805/653-2629 if you are interested. . .
