AlexLeather Report post Posted March 18, 2014 I'm looking for two thicknesses, something around the 5/6 oz and then the 8/9 oz. size. I havent used sole but apparently it dyes dark which I like. But it seems like it only comes in 12oz + sizes. I"m used to using veg tan but would like something more geared towards armor, and utitlity straps. Any good ideas? Geneva Report post Posted March 18, 2014 You might want to try some leather floor tile. Most is around 10oz. it is the toughest piece of leather you will ever lay your hands on. You will need to split the smaller oz. from the larger piece. It is usually 12" squares if that will help. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

johnv474 Report post Posted April 13, 2014 You could probably just buy sole leather and have it split. Sole leather is mostly leather that has been compressed under a glazing jack (glass roller), as I understand it. I might have some of the terminology off. Wickett and Craig offers many custom options when ordering their leather (such as free splitting, or extra treatments during the tanning process).
