Leather Fire Helmet Shield

Hey There,

First let me say thanks to all of the guys who have already posted threads about this topic. I am a full time firefighter here in Ma. I am also a custom pinstripes, sign painter and hand lettering guy. Do a lot of Gold and Silver leafing as we'll. I wanted to try my hand at making or painting custom leather fire helmet shields. With all of the information posted here I was thinking maybe it would be easier for me to post this and have a central location with all of the info. here as opposed to referencing multiple threads.

So my questions is this: if all I want to do is paint shields. What do I need to know, what materials do I need and where do I start.

If I want to make custom shields, same questions?

there are a lot of threads on here already that cover what you're asking for i don't have the time to go hunt them all down and post them all here for your convenience but maybe someone else can or will good luck
