austinb Report post Posted April 7, 2014 Soon I am going to be finally getting an industrial walking foot machine. Due to my budget, I am going to have to buy a used machine. One of the best quality used machines that seems so readily available are Juki machines. Any recommendation on what model I should try and pick up? For a used machine, my budget is going to be no more than $650-700. This machine is simply going to be used for belts, wallets, and maybe some bags down the line. Nothing like saddle making or holster making. Let me know what you recommend!
Geneva Report post Posted April 8, 2014 Where are you located? These are an older machine but they are great for what you want Juki LU-563. These machines were made in Japan the mid-80's I think it is one of the best ever produced. It has a huge bobbin and it will sew around 3/8 to 1/2" under the pressure foot with reverse. Don't let any one bs you into paying to much for these machines they are worth what you have set aside for a budget. I would not go beyond that but that is up to you. You might find one on Craig's list, or garbage bay, look for upholstery shops that are closing or selling out look in local for sale or trade papers/websites, government surplus and school surplus. Don't be in a hurry to buy one. Look around first find two or three of the machines and compare each one to the other for the best price and the machine with the best finish. Good luck in your search.
