Members Tallbald Posted April 11, 2014 Members Report Posted April 11, 2014 I used the search feature to try to get an answer but wasn't able to find the latter sequence (dye/trag/top coat) so I will post it, hoping to not recover old turf. I'll be making key ring belt loop, dog collars, and other items with exposed edges. One source suggested top coating after the dye and trag treatment with beeswax and buff. What's working for a durable, resilient look please? Thanks. Don Quote
Tree Reaper Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 It's in your topic title. Edge Kote Instead Of Oil Dye Then Gum Trag Then A Top Coat? Less work with edge kote, that's the primary difference. Final appearance is personal preference. Quote

Tree Reaper Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 Well, if you don't know just ask, that's what the forum is for. I've got more than my fair share of help here. Quote
Matt T Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 Also, you can't finish chrome tanned leather the same way as veg tan, and edge paint becomes necessary. Quote Leathercraft supplies
