Members rosiart Posted April 15, 2014 Members Report Posted April 15, 2014 I decided to try and make some sandals to match the messenger bag. I whacked off the bottom of a cheapy pair of sandals I bought at Winners to use as the outer sole. I had some issues with the veg tan inner sole darkening when I was sanding the edges of the sole. Some of it is likely due to the glue but could some of it be scorching of the leather? I am wondering if I had the RPMs too high on my dremel. So I tried to get creative with the colour of the edges and was not as successful as I had hoped to be. Another learning experience (Sorry the colour is a bit off in the photos. Must be the artificial lighting.) Quote
Tree Reaper Posted April 15, 2014 Report Posted April 15, 2014 They look good Rosi, nice match! You can always use paint on the edge. Quote
Members rosiart Posted April 15, 2014 Author Members Report Posted April 15, 2014 Thanks, Tree Reaper. I initially tried just using an edge finish and copic markers but didn't like the look . Then I tried mixing some Golden acrylic paint with Resolene to seal the edges. It makes a kind of antiqued sort of look that isn't too bad but I am not sure I'm in love with it. I figured I would wear them for a while and see how it holds up. Quote
