Snap Inserts, Or?

Recommended Posts

Best place I can think of to ask this question, so here it goes

The ways to protect your gun or knife from the snap metal post back touching-rubbing possibly scratching

the gun or knife would be??

Sew in a liner after snap has been set, OR those small flat plastic inserts

( Which, I don't know where to find?? please help)

Are there any other ways that you have found help the keep the snap off the gun or knife blade?

or ideas to prevent it from happening.

Thanks

I prefer lining my holsters and some of my sheaths so I sandwich any metal between the two layers. If I am doing unlined holster or sheath I use the snap covers or cunter sink the snap base. I do that by skiving the area of the snap so that it will sit below the surface of the leather.

For snap covers thebluegunstore.com (look under makers supplies) http://037287c.netsolstores.com/snaps.aspx

, or highdesertleather.com (look under DIY) http://www.highdesertleather.com/diy.html

If I don't countersink the posts, I cut a piece of kipskin about an 1/8" larger than the snap and glue it over the base of the post. I have never had one come loose yet.
