mjs Report post Posted June 18, 2014 I have a champion stitcher that was sewing fine but suddenly the needle is slightly to the left of the awl. I've tried new needles, awls, and tightened the plate that holds the needle bar, but none of this helped. If I turn the awl a quarter turn the needle will hit the edge of the hole, but I prefer the look of the stitches with the awl lined up in the direction you're stitching and I would rather fix the problem than work around it. Thanks for any suggestions. Mike
catskin Report post Posted June 18, 2014 For what its worth on my American straight needle it says that the awl is to be slightly offset from the needle so check and see if this is the case with your machine too. The offset on mine is to be 1/64th inch.
pcox Report post Posted June 19, 2014 (edited) All the awl and needle machines I have worked on have a way to align the needle and awl. I can't remember how to do it on your machine. There is one a few miles from me will try to go by and see if I can see how to do it. Edited June 19, 2014 by pcox
