LeatherWerks Report post Posted July 13, 2014 Recently I purchased a Campbell Randall Keystone splitter and skiver. It's just the same as the Weaver Heritage or Osborne I guess. Looks like a good quality product. I bought it new and thought the blade would be sharper that what it is. Does anyone know the proper way to sharpen this blade? I do have a surface plate which is about as flat as you can get if I need a flat surface. Steve
TomG Report post Posted July 13, 2014 Check this post out. It covers it. and has some other links to methods as well, if I remember right. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=56574#entry363071
CampbellRandall Report post Posted July 14, 2014 Steve: Before using a stone, I would recommend stropping (honing) the blade. Here is a video for the process. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_bojbbWSmo&feature=youtu.be This would be better for normal edge maintenance. - Dan Naegle
