emmalceck Report post Posted July 14, 2014 Hi All, I'm new to sewing and new to working with leather, but I have a collection of leather remnants and an inherited industrial singer sewing machine (20U-109) that I would like to start experimenting with. I'm interested in trying my hand at making handbags and possibly some leather garments. I've read online that my machine can be used to sew leather, but when I called about getting my machine serviced, I was told that it would not sew leather. Has anyone used this type of machine for sewing leather? And more importantly, what kind of machine would you recommend to someone who was just starting out sewing leather? Thanks All, for any insight you may have! Emma
biglew Report post Posted September 25, 2014 it will sew lighter garment leather and some softer leathers to about 2mm or so. Probably best to switch to a roller like..But to fit your machine... http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROLLER-FOOT-LARGE-SEWING-SINGER-JUKI-CONSEW-12267-/290723352257?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43b0764ec1
