There is a J. D. Randall Co. Cast Iron Leather Splitter skiver model 8802 8" on ebay right now:

I was wondering if anyone knows what is the max one should pay for one in that shape? I want to bid, but dont know if it is worth it.

Not sure, but note the $45 shipping charge...

I bought the Tandy model a while back for $250 on sale a while back. I got the older model and it's pretty rugged, but needed the blade sharpened. But I understand that all except the Weaver model need sharpening...

It was worth it to me even though the adjuster screw wasn't original. I got a bit worried because the shipping cost seemed a bit light and passed. It costs me almost that to pack one right and ship it within the US. The handle and the adjuster screw need to be taken off for shipping. Dealing with international insurance on a broken one wasn't something I wanted to risk. I still figured it would go for around $300 or better.

It did seem to go for less than I thought it would, should make a really nice splitter after cleaning and sharpening

I was lucky enough to get it!
Shipping wise, it was only $30 within Canada.
If I want to ship something similar from the States to Canada, 90% of vendors quote $100 plus. So this was a steal.
