Do I Really Need An Airbrush For Dying Leather With Acrylic Dye?

Recommended Posts

Thanks David for the info. It's something to think about in the future because the drying of the dyed hide needs flooring space and I don't have a big warehouse to lay out the hides. They said they dip dye mostly but if it's really bright colours then they have to spray it I suppose. Custome colours are £8 per square foot for a shoulder so that's $13 per square foot. A undyed shoulder here in the uk costs £50-60 and then the paint on top. I reckon if you have a business getting someone else to do the dyeing is preferable.

Make sense, a guy that spray paints cars would be a good fit.

What tannery are you buying from that sells 13 dollar a square foot for shoulder leather, which is the second cheapest cut of leather.

and of course you have the problem of custom mixing a dye for the edges if you cut the pieces out of the dyed shoulder.
