Members Modad2010 Posted September 13, 2014 Members Report Posted September 13, 2014 Hey folks, I had a gentleman say he would like for me to make him a holster for a 5" 1911. Not usually a problem, except he would like to have full coverage grey elephant. Up until now I've only used remnant pieces for trim on holsters and have not had a need for larger pieces. So far in my search, 4sq. ft. is the smallest amount I can order and that comes at $45 per sq.ft. Does anyone know where I might find about 1 to 1.5 sq.ft. of grey elephant? Quote
Members camano ridge Posted September 13, 2014 Members Report Posted September 13, 2014 (edited) Try John Fong exotic leather in SanFransisco http://johnfongexoticleathers.com/ I have not bought ellephant from him, however I have bought gator and ostrich and in those leathers he cut to size for me with no minimum. I would call and talk to him dorect, he is a very nice guy to talk to and has several holster makers as clients. Edited September 13, 2014 by camano ridge Quote

Members billybopp Posted September 14, 2014 Members Report Posted September 14, 2014 I noticed that and got a good laugh too ... It'd make one helluva bag, wouldn't it? Quote
Members SteelcityK9Cop Posted September 14, 2014 Members Report Posted September 14, 2014 Hopefully his prices aren't a real kick in the nutz. Quote
Members camano ridge Posted September 14, 2014 Members Report Posted September 14, 2014 I have found his prices to be comparable to Mark Staton company, PanAmerican and Roje and in some cases lower. However the big advantage to him and to Mark Staton Company (specializes in gator) they are both willing to cut the size you need not sell you panels. Again I have not bought elephant from John Fong but he has sold me pices of gator and ostrich in the domensions that I needed without a minimum. Yes the price per square foot is a little higher when you by a small piece but its still cheaper then a couple hundred dollars for several square foot panel when you don't have need for that much.
