Reproducing Corter Leather's 'waxed Red Lantern' Finish

I mix the fiebings dyes and cut them with lacquer thinner. I don't really like the colors straight. Brown is too green, so I usually add some red and yellow, etc. They did get a very even color, though, so I bet they airbrushed. There might even be an antique gel in this color. I've seen a lot of holsters in this color.

Its called currying leather. Play around with beeswaxes, tallow and animal fat. Im not sure on the last one. After dyeing leather people rub on waxes to get a better hand and protect the leather.
