builderofstuff Report post Posted November 4, 2014 I've got a small cnc milling machine in my shop and something I've wanted to do for ages is make my own makers stamp. I've been working with some new engraving software but I find the thing I'm having trouble with is coming up with a design. Anyone have any suggestions when it comes to makers stamp designs? Size, complexity, style, overall design, etc. ? As I said I've been experimenting with new software and I've had some good results, but I just can't for the life of me come up with a design that I like. camano ridge Report post Posted November 4, 2014 What is the name of your business, waht are you trying to convey with you makers stamp? The makers stamp should conect to your business some how represent you. The purpose of a makers stamp is so that people can look at something and know who made it and have anme to contact. Some people are now putting there .com on their makers stamp.
builderofstuff Report post Posted November 5, 2014 Well I don't have a business name for the leatherwork, I've never really looked at it as a business. I've sold a few things here and there but it's never really been my motivation. I'm not even sure what I'm trying to convey with it. I've been looking around online at examples of makers stamps but seems like most of the companies making them offer them in the basic style with the name, maker, and location. I could see where having the web address on it would be helpful. I wrote my sister tonight who's a graphic artist and asked her if she wanted to take a crack at coming up with a design for me. camano ridge Report post Posted November 5, 2014 (edited) A lot of the Makers Mark , makers (say that three times fast) have stock styles however most do custom work also. Two that you could contact would be Studio - N or blackriverlaser.com both are members on these forum. If you are just looking for something to identify it as made by you but not really promoting a business you could use your initials or brerakdown builder of stuff into initials. For something unique something shaped like a head knife with the initials in the blade area would be cool. For examples search these forums for makers mark also if you go over to cascity.com to the Leathershop then find the FAQ how to's I believe there is a thread showing many of the makers marks for makers on those forums.
