rawhide1 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 Howdy to all I first need to point out I no nothing about sewing machines! Art was nice enough to answer a ? for me on a singer but I have a ? on some other machines and I don't just want to pester Art so here goes. There is a Pfaff 1245-706/47-6101-CLPMN and a Juki LU-562 for sale they both come with tables and motors. Their wanting a $1,000 apiece for them. ? is are they worth it and which is the better machine for the money. They both look to be in great shape and were used to sew upholstery. As I told Art I intend to sew hair on cow and possibly in the future double and stitch stuff up to 9oz or so. Any and all input greatly appreciated. greg gomersall Report post Posted November 4, 2008 The 1245 pfaff is an awesome machine. It is what is refered to as a High-Lift machine (takes 190 needle system) the 1000.00 price is very fair as they are over 2500.00 new. You can sew 14 to 16 oz no problem on this machine. I run 138 on top and 92 on bottom on mine and coulb bump it up to 207/138 if I needed to. I sew all my belt, chaps headstalls etc on mine. The Juki brand is a good brand as well but Pfaff is the top of the line. Greg
Bree Report post Posted November 4, 2008 They are both good machines the Pfaff 1245 is probably the better of the two. Have a sewing machine tech check them out.
rawhide1 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 (edited) greg and BreeThanks for your replies. I think I'll call him up and take it. I talked to him earlier and he said he would take 700.00 for it. I will have to drive 3to 4 hrs one way to get it. But the wife can visit family while were up there killing two birds with one rock. What should I check for other than it stiching. And can I get my money out of it later if I dont like it. He said there was a box of parts with it I assume different feet and thread. He said he doesn't know anything about it that his dad used it until he died earlier this year. I'm going to try and go up Friday. It's the pfaff I'm getting and I was wondering were a fella gets parts and help if he needs it. Once again a BIG THANKS!! rawhide1 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 Bree That is very true and I've been helped a lot. I just meant if there was a problem that somebody on the board didn't know the answer to which I would seriously doubt or I needed further instruction.
