Made this sheath for a customer. All hand stitched. I used Fiebings Mahogany Oil Dye and Tan Kote for the finish.

Looks great, I really like those full sheaths as opposed to just a mask to cover the edge. I need to make one for my camp axe like that one of these days just need to get through the rest of my work first.

Yes, four layers at the haft, then feathered down to three layers across the cutting edge.

I'm glad I'm not going blind! Nice job! I'm pretty new to the craft. It would be cool to see a tutorial on that. How deep does the middle layer around the blade edge go?

It goes in from the edge about 1/2". 1/4" past the stitches. It is also glued with Barge cement.

Thanks for the continued info. Did you stitch all three layers at the same time? If so, how much more difficult is that than just stitching two layers together?
