snubbyfan Report post Posted November 6, 2014 (edited) My own personal daily concealed carry holster. I like the color but the problem is the belt I made's black. I know that color doesn't really make a difference when it's supposed to stay concealed but I just know that I'm going to have to make a black holster to match the belt. mike6642 Report post Posted November 27, 2014 Nice job on the holster and belt. I like that holster a lot. the profile looks like the gun would be nice and close to the body. Is that color on the holster a standard color.
snubbyfan Report post Posted November 28, 2014 (edited) Thanks, the holster does snuggle the gun right into my side. The dye's Fiebings Professional Oil dye in saddle tan. It's the leather that's different. I tried out a double shoulder of 9 ounce that was factory finished on the flesh side. The grain side's darker also. These two holsters were dyed out of the same bottle of saddle tan with two different kinds of leather. Edited November 28, 2014 by snubbyfan
TwinOaks Report post Posted November 28, 2014 That's a very nice design for the holster. And, the difference between the two is an outstanding example of why it's always a good idea to test your dyes on a scrap of leather from each hide.
snubbyfan Report post Posted November 29, 2014 Thanks, actually, I can't take all the credit for it. I worked with a customer on the design. He had an Idea in his head and had me make it for him. This is the one I made for him;
TwinOaks Report post Posted November 29, 2014 Do you mind if I try that pattern?
snubbyfan Report post Posted November 30, 2014 Not only do I not mind, I'd feel flattered. One thing I found is that tooling the center of the front panel increases it's length and helps to initiate the curve. Lookin' forward to seein' how it comes out.
