Members Dutchman Leathercraft Posted December 21, 2014 Members Report Posted December 21, 2014 Hi all, I've used the search function and can't find the info I'm looking for. I am looking for an all-purpose rivet that is suitable for decoration and security at the beginning and end of a welt on a knife sheath, as well as attaching retention straps to axe masks. I am looking for something that will both withstand rugged usage, and also remain attractive. Does such a rivet exist? I've looked at double cap, and tubular rivets, but haven't been able to pull the trigger on either. A little advice would be much appreciated. Thanks! Quote

Copper rivets are traditional for sheaths, axe covers etc. When done right they look good and will last as long as the leather does. However they will age and get a patina. Depending on the leather you may evetualy get some verdigris (oxidation). I have some floral cap rivets however they are hard o find. Edited December 21, 2014 by camano ridge Quote
