Dland10 Report post Posted December 30, 2014 This is the third or fourth thing that I've made out of leather, and I love doing it. Please feel free to critique, a lot of the flaws I have PROBABLY spotted....(My work is nowhere near perfect)....but if its there, that's probably because I don't know how to do it the correct way! hahaha Looking forward to learning more and hearing from everybody! snubbyfan Report post Posted December 31, 2014 (edited) That's very nice, especially considering it's only your 3rd or 4th project. There's a couple of things I noticed. First, close up the gap on the border of the basketweave stamp. Also, beveling your edges before burnishing, gives them a nice finished look. I do like that black welt, nice detail. Dland10 Report post Posted December 31, 2014 Thanks mate! I love doing the center welt a different color...I believe if a sheath doesn't have the third weld to protect the stitching it isn't a sheath at all, and the contrast in color helps it stand out. I haven't even thought about making the boarder stamps touch...for some reason I was under the impression that they shouldn't...but it does look much nicer and uniform when the corners meet. Thanks again!
Rohn Report post Posted December 31, 2014 Nice looking sheath. The carving looks nice and I also like the different color welt. I'm going to have to try that sometime.
