Newbie Question - Stop Leather From Turning As I Am Tooling

Recommended Posts

This may sound like a silly question, but I am having trouble with my piece turning as I am tooling. Especially when I am using a beveler stamp like the B702 or b202 etc.. The piece is small like a scrap, fob, or coaster size. Am I missing something? haha

I have a weight I set on things while I'm working. It's a 1in x 4in x 4in rubber block with a similar sized steel block stacked on top. (They're jewelry and metal working tools.) Parking those on an edge that I'm not working keeps things in place without having to glue or tack my piece to a larger object and the rubber is pretty good about not damaging things.

Thanks, I'll try to give those a shot.

I use the 2lb. mini anvil from Tandy https://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/home/department/tools/setters-anvils/3101-00.aspx, just glued a piece of leather on the bottom. And have made bean bag weights using aquarium rock, but the anvil is handiest for me. Charlie
