Members mishkin Posted January 26, 2015 Members Report Posted January 26, 2015 Hello, I'm very new to working with leather. I've been trying to figure out how to create a pebble texture on smooth leather. I found some pebble background stamping tools, but they provide fairly fine grain. I'm looking for something more coarse. Something like this: The reason I want to create such texture rather than use pebble leather to begin with is that I want to have this texture only on part of a single piece and not on the whole. Thank you very much in advance for all your help and advice. Quote
Members rmr Posted January 26, 2015 Members Report Posted January 26, 2015 That looks like bison hide to me- which naturally comes with a pebble grain Quote
Members mishkin Posted January 26, 2015 Author Members Report Posted January 26, 2015 Thanks. Is there a way to smooth out bison hide to have smooth texture? I only need it on a a portion of a piece. So in that bag, for example, only half of the front will be pebbled, and the other half is smooth. Quote
mlapaglia Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 Ive gotten pebble texture with a poly cutting board that had a rough finish and a mallet. I case the leather, place it grain side down on the cutting board and go over it with themallet. Makes a nice texture. Check out a picture and the original post here.
