Hello, I've recently begun working with leather and am interested in finding small leather punches (1/8" diameter) with various shapes. I'm specifically looking for star shapes. I found a set online at Tandy but they're too large. http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/search/searchresults/3006-00.aspx

Attaching an image of the moccasins i made with plain punches (please don't look too closely, the decorations are freehanded as i was just practicing with the rotary punch). The design I'm planning will have a combination of punched and stamped stars, so a recommendation for stamps would be really appreciated too (I know they also have these at Tandy).

Thank you!

K

Don't know about the punches but you made some really nice moccasins! My smallest star stamp from Tandy is 3/16".

I have that set from Tandy and they work well. I really don't think you are going to find any smaller unless you have them custom made.

Benlilly1- thank you! working on it ;-)

camano ridge- thanks. just not even sure where to have them custom made. there is an etsy shop that is advertising them but I'm a bit put off by the description of "a bit of rust." https://www.etsy.com/listing/194581896/5mm-star-hole-punch-leather-hole?ref=shop_home_active_1&ga_search_query=star%2Bpunch

Since they're steel they may rust coming over from Hong Kong. They should clean up though. Also you will be waiting a couple to 3 weeks for delivery. I've ordered from Etsy in Hong Kong and it's not fast shipping.

Ok, I just made a liar out of myself. Goodsjapan has them in 4mm, 5mm 6mm and 8mm they are mixed in with other shapes so scroll down and you will find them. http://goodsjapan.com/leathercraft-shaped-leather-hole-punch-large-5-point-star-no12-8mm-x-8mm-554-p.asp

The punch on etsy apears to be high carbon steel, it is not uncomon to have a little surface rust. As long as there is no pitting ( indications of severe rusting and lack of care). A little oil a wipe down with 0000 steel wool and you should be good to go.
