Members Wrangler B Posted February 20, 2015 Members Report Posted February 20, 2015 (edited) First saddle completed. A 14 1/2 seat on Heiser Saddlery tree I refurbished. Matching saddle bags to go with it. Will post pix after I can reduce their size... Edited February 20, 2015 by Wrangler B Quote

rktaylor Posted February 21, 2015 Report Posted February 21, 2015 I just put down my Stohlman volume 2 and then looked at your saddle and had to look again. Nice work. It looks like you took your time. The swell lacing and edges look good. Randy Quote
Members rdl123 Posted February 23, 2015 Members Report Posted February 23, 2015 Very nice Job Wrangler B... I like the clean look! Now for the fun part of actually riding it & enjoying all that hard work! R Quote
Members Wrangler B Posted February 23, 2015 Author Members Report Posted February 23, 2015 rdl123: Thanks Ron. Enjoyed building the first one. Took some time - read some, build some…. Used the Stohlman books and my other saddles here on the place to make sure I was doing it right. May be time to go to saddle building school so I can really see what I honked up, besides the things I already know about. The actual riding of it will be for my wife - 14 1/2" seat fits her much better than it would me. Regards, Bill Quote
Members rdl123 Posted February 24, 2015 Members Report Posted February 24, 2015 Bill, Yes, it sure is enjoyable - I don't consider saddle making 'fun' like I do riding colts or roping but it is very satisfying! If you do not have time in your schedule to attend an actual school I would highly recommend Dale Harwood & Jeremiah Watts saddle making DVD's - I find them very helpful - I'm sure they don't replace hands on, one-on-one teaching but for someone like me who can't get away from my real job they sure are handy. Let us know how your wife likes the saddle! From the pics your seat profile looks like it should be nice to sit in! Regards, Ron Quote
