Members Lockeland Leather Works Posted February 24, 2015 Members Report Posted February 24, 2015 Hello all, I'm about to finalize my logo and will be purchasing a stamp or brand. I've been doing some research on my own, but thought it would be a good idea to ask for some recommendations from you fine folks. Still trying to decide between a stamp or brand. The logo will have some fine detail found in small embellishments that I want to make sure will be evident in the final stamp. I will be stamping or branding on both veg tanned and chrome tanned leathers. Just looking to collect any information you'd be willing to lend and recommendations and experiences with stamp/brand suppliers. Thanks a lot! Look forward to hearing what you guys have to say. Quote
Members Studio-N Posted February 24, 2015 Members Report Posted February 24, 2015 If you're looking to use one stamp on both tannage, you'll have to go the branding route. Soft leathers (i.e chrome) will simply bounce back up. leathers like a latigo can sometimes be stamped under pressure. You can however stamp a small piece of veg and use it as label you sew in for the softer stuff. Cheers! Quote
Members cielo Posted February 26, 2015 Members Report Posted February 26, 2015 I bought a small heat embossing brand from LW Leathers last year that I've been using on suede outsoles and garment-y type leathers. I don't really have ground for comparison since I do one-offs but so far, so good! Calvin was really easy to work with-- I think it ships from Hong Kong within a 2 week window (as in, you order, you receive it in that time frame). Quote
Members Christianlikeswhiskey Posted March 9, 2015 Members Report Posted March 9, 2015 I ordered two stamps from LW Leathers a few months back and have had alot of issues. First their shipping states that it will arrive within 10-15 days but this is false. Apparently its 10-15 days processing and 10-15 days to ship. I wanted a hammer stamp and not their clamp stamp and was advised by the owner Calvin to go with their custom leather stamp with hammering handle. So I ordered the stamp and an extra stamp as well. Come to find out the hammering handle came stripped so I can't even use it. After speaking with Calvin again regarding this issue he said that he would reach out to me after 3/2 as this was the Chinese new year and I have yet to hear from him. Its not a bad stamp but the customer service and quality of the handle was something that added a big headache. Quote

Members perogee Posted April 10, 2015 Members Report Posted April 10, 2015 I was curious if there are any other issues that LW is currently having? I placed an order with them a month ago, and other than the automated order email, I have had absolutely no contact from them. Is this normal? Quote
Members Nuttish Posted April 15, 2015 Members Report Posted April 15, 2015 There's another similar thread going. Be careful about fine detail on soft leather. It can cut the grain. You have an additional option of hot stamping with or without foil. Quote
