Help For Singer 29K51

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I'm sorry my English is not good, use an automatic translator.

I bought a Singer 29K51, but I have a problem, I need your kind help and experience.
Maybe the problem is in these pieces? Because I see that it moves too if I move it with with my hand, until 5 mm in any direction.
Thank you all for any help or advice.

I copied your Dropbox schematic from College Sewing and attached it to this reply.

I circled the parts in black that are probably causing your problem. Your bobbin doesn't move back far enough to catch the thread at the needle for the bobbin hook to catch it. This is probably caused by these worn parts.

What size needle and what size thread are you using? The machine can only use the 29-4 needle and thread is limited to size 92.

Hope this helps good luck to ya'.

Hello Geneva.

The needle is new, found on ebay: Sewing needle 29X4 332LR DIx4 #24 leather point.

Unfortunately the thread was already in the sewing when it was purchased and is very old, has nothing written on it.

Can I have some advice on that thread buy?
Thank you very much!

I use a #22 needle in my 29-4, size 92 & 69 work the best. Needles 18 & 20 for the smaller thread work better on bonded nylon, polyester and linen thread will all work.

Good luck.

hello

here is a link for the video of the whole gear system moving. It seems to be OK, I have only a doubt about the shuttle, it seems not to move at the same speed of the driving pinion. Do you think it is correct?

http://youtu.be/ImAax2bLvy0

After having opened the sewing machine, I have seen that the gear scheme is a bit different from the one I find from internet (here enclosed).

My question is if it is possible to find the correct spare parts for my gear system or is better trying to change the whole system.

I wait for your opinion, thanks a lot to everyone that could help me in any way.

Tina
