MudBugWill Report post Posted March 20, 2015 (edited) Hello All, Knifemaking has been an hobby of mine for the past year and I decided today that I was tired of using an X-acto knife to cut my leather. I wanted something with some soul. I drew up a Japanese Kiridashi inspired design and ground my 3/32" o1 tool steel to shape, gave it a chisel bevel, heat treated it and tempered it. I put some handle scraps I had from another knife on it, and i think it came out pretty neat. After it hit my Japanese waterstones, it is by far the sharpest knife I have ever made. Chef niloc Report post Posted March 29, 2015 Very cool, looks like you've have a copy of the $50 knife shop on hand, great book. I made my first few knives with a similar setup. Leatherworking and knife makeing hobbies made to go together.
