Members Bruce H Posted April 4, 2015 Members Report Posted April 4, 2015 (edited) Our local facebook garage sale page has an antique leather punch for sale for $30 Is this something I should buy? Would i find myself using it for punching leather...Will it work for setting rivets too? I do not know the first thing about them. Here's one just like it on Ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Cast-Iron-REX-Metal-Leather-Press-Punch-Riveter-Hand-Tool-R-/300927824358?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4610b231e6 Will my drill press be more useful? Someone please educate me. Thanks so much! Bruce Edited April 4, 2015 by Bruce H Quote
Members eglideride Posted April 4, 2015 Members Report Posted April 4, 2015 Great paperweight/conversation piece. I purchased one for $10.00. Have not found a "practical" use for it yet. Sure looks cool sitting in the shop. Quote
Members Bruce H Posted April 4, 2015 Author Members Report Posted April 4, 2015 Eglideride...Thanks for the reply...I was afraid of that. I figure the drill press will come in more handy...LOL Thanks for your response...Enjoy the weekend! Quote
Moderator bruce johnson Posted April 4, 2015 Moderator Report Posted April 4, 2015 Commonly found - if I don't see one in half the antique shops I am not looking hard enough. They set tubular rivets and were used to rivet in brake bands on old cars and tractors too. Quote
Members Bruce H Posted April 5, 2015 Author Members Report Posted April 5, 2015 Thanks Bruce...I never knew that about riveting brake bands. By the way I've checked out your website a few times and you have some beautiful items for sale...Nice site! Quote
