mtrain17 Report post Posted April 11, 2015 Hi all, I recently carved and stamped a design that I want to make into a coaster. I made a coaster in the past but it ended up getting a bit discolored from the moisture of the glasses and cans and whatnot. I put the Tandy leather factory super shene on it before using it thinking it would help it from staining but I was wrong. I'm still fairly new to the leathercraft game and I was wondering if anybody knew what i could use to keep it from staining from the moisture. I heard about Tan-Kote but I wanted to make sure from more experience leather crafters. Thanks
Bob Blea Report post Posted April 12, 2015 Resolene would probably be a better choice. Mix it 50/50 with water and apply several light coats. It will give you more water resistance than super shene but it won't make it water proof. It is usually the product people choose that make motorcycle gear that has to get wet from time to time. Wild Bill46 Report post Posted April 13, 2015 I agree with Bob, Resolene is a very good product, and as Bob says mixed with water 50/50, its a better choice for almost everything than Super Shene. I don't use Super Shene anymore. --- Wild Bill46
