Members jeremyqmartin Posted May 19, 2015 Members Report Posted May 19, 2015 (edited) Hello, I want to make a notebook/magazine holder. I want leather that is strong, like the veg tan that Tandy has stacks and stacks of, but thin like what you would use for a wallet. I once found a bucket of remnants at Tandy that had such leather which I used for my first ever project, a 3-set of button attachments for a pair of suspenders. I haven't been able to find leather this thin at Tandy (or maybe I'm missing it?). Where can I find what I'm looking for? Finished or natural, I don't mind. Thanks! Members Tugadude Posted May 19, 2015 Members Report Posted May 19, 2015 They have this at Springfield Leather Co. Might work for you. What you are looking for is 2-3 oz. leather, closer to 2.5 oz. Quote
Members jeremyqmartin Posted May 19, 2015 Author Members Report Posted May 19, 2015 Thanks so much! I've never bought leather online before, but I have enough experience now that it doesn't scare me as much anymore. I've been figuring that I'll have to buy online for what I'm needing. Quote
Members Tugadude Posted May 19, 2015 Members Report Posted May 19, 2015 BTW, if in doubt, pick up the phone and call the folks down there. They are very friendly and helpful! Quote
Members zikman Posted May 19, 2015 Members Report Posted May 19, 2015 This works too. image.jpg A word of warning, this particular leather that you've posted is very pliable and has a little stretch to it. Not quite what he's looking for. More suited for lining or garment work. The other weights of that leather have a firmer temper like most veg tan that you'll find. Quote
Members Andrew Chee Posted May 19, 2015 Members Report Posted May 19, 2015 You can call up Wickett & Craig. They will take any of their sides and split them to the desired thickness. You have to buy an entire side though. But many places will have what you're looking for. Sheridan leather has Hermann Oak down to that thickness. http://www.sheridanleather.com/category_s/1824.htm Lots of places have similar stuff. Just depends on what you want. Andrew Quote
