Members MorningStarL Posted May 27, 2015 Members Report Posted May 27, 2015 I live in mountains with hiking trails. I like my hands as free as possible, and I'm thinking of making a lens case with a strap on it: a cylinder with a bottom and a lid attached with a small strap because I'm good at losing things. I'm not sure how to attach a bottom to a cylinder. As I'm typing I've decided to go look at some arrow quivers -- but good suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance. Quote
Members 25b Posted May 27, 2015 Members Report Posted May 27, 2015 Here's how I made mine... Nigel mentioned on his facebook page that he was going to make a detailed video with instructions for this box, but it hasn't happened yet and that was a couple of years ago I think... Anyway, I just figured most of it out from the video, but it sure would be nice to have actual explanations of what he's doing...what order to do everything in, etc. Doubt it's going to happen though. I gave up hoping for it a long time ago. Quote
Members MorningStarL Posted May 27, 2015 Author Members Report Posted May 27, 2015 Thanks! I tried searching the forum with things like "cylinder" and got sewing machines, and "lens case" and got something else. I'll watch this. Quote
Members billybopp Posted May 28, 2015 Members Report Posted May 28, 2015 There's a good example in Al Stohlman's "The Art of Hand Sewing Leather" on how to make a cylinder. Describing it without photos is a bit beyond my ability to type, but it's not all that hard to do. I've made many can kozi's using the technique. Bill Quote
Members MorningStarL Posted May 28, 2015 Author Members Report Posted May 28, 2015 Thanks, Bill. I'm fairly new to this and have only made knife sheaths. You guys have been making my product better and now I want to branch out. I've looked at the Stohlman book and wondered about getting it. I need all the help I can get. Quote
