TheCyberwolfe Report post Posted June 8, 2015 I think i came up with a solution to my current lack of a dedicated workspace - I've modified my computer desk to double as a workbench. This involved getting the monitor and such up off the desk so they wouldn't accrue damage when I bang away at rivets and such, and I've had to pick up a new poundo board and a new slab (the 70-pound surface plate / tombstone is too much to be moving around) but I should be able to keep on working now. There's a full write-up over at my main leatherworking blog, and here's a shot of the finished bench:
johnv474 Report post Posted June 14, 2015 I like the compact and adaptable workspace. Mounting the monitor off the work surface will save lots of fuss. I would be amused to see someone use the rear half of a stitching horse as a computer chair. You might like to see this linkage hinge toolbox. I imagine one being made for leatherworking tools, but have not seen one in person yet. Here's a video: Most of my work is done on a drafting table and a 3' log standing nearby, with a 2-drawer file cabinet between them. It doesn't take much space if you don't need dedicated stations for each step of the process.
billybopp Report post Posted June 14, 2015 I'm rather fond of this tool chest that's recently been on Sheridan's website, and given a bit of thought to building something similar. http://www.sheridanleather.com/Set_of_10_C_S_Osborne_Single_Hole_Punches_p/dt-000.htm Bill
