I have been sewing two layers of 6/7 oz leather no problem . When I sew one layer I look at the top of the work and the bobbin thread is visible from the top . How do I adjust it back to the middle of my work?

Try backing off the tension on your top thread.

If you're not yet familiar with the machine, you might make a mark on there first - where the tension is set NOW - so that you can put it back. There are markers made for steel (I got some yellow around here somewhere), or some people use a dab of nail polish, etc.

I tend to use the pre tensioner before playing with the main tension - just a personal preference
