Ambassador Luke Hatley Posted November 28, 2008 Author Ambassador Report Posted November 28, 2008 Haha!! I bet your right!Good looking setup. It's not often that you see a shoulder rig for a lefty. Is the open trigger guard a customer request? I have found that spraying rubbing alcohol on my piece to clean it and slightly dampen it lets the brown dye soak in more evenly. I apply it with a rag. Cheers! *edit* Oh yeah, what weight is that leather? 6-8oz leather & yes he wanted the trigger guard like that. thank you... Quote Luke
Members DCKNIVES Posted November 29, 2008 Members Report Posted November 29, 2008 (edited) Nice work Luke.I have that book as well, but I would caution doing lower trigger cutouts on modern semi-auto's.I am fortunate to have several customers and friends that are LEO's and gun safety instructors. When I started making holsters, that was an issue that came up immeadiately. One of them told me a story of a police dept. that ordered new holsters for thier Glocks (which have no seperate safety). The new holsters had a generous cutout and within months the dept. had numerous as in almost 30 accidental discharges mostly due to LEO's grabbing the trigger on extraction. So I no longer have cutouts on semi-autos, better be safe than sorry. I don't know how true it is, but the same fellow told me that cutout was designed by the Texas Rangers and just kind of stuck as a prefered way of doing holsters.Anyways I like your holster and I'm sure you'll have a happy customer.Dave This is how I do Glock Holsters now Edited November 29, 2008 by DCKNIVES Quote http://dcknivesandle...lademakers.com/
