Members TheGarrett Posted July 21, 2015 Members Report Posted July 21, 2015 Hey guys Shop Gnome here, Mojo George and I had an idea. Felt tip "refillable" pens from the local art supply company. Ad some dye and PRESTO! edging. (this is my first attempt at using this so more info when I get it.) Has any else tried these things? If so thoughts? https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8OjhCpucdcHRHhPd2lNSDlCQ00/view?usp=sharing Simple veg tan scrap. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8OjhCpucdcHYkZoa3pORkUxU3M/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8OjhCpucdcHUURUNGRfSzFFSms/view?usp=sharing Quick rub with the pen. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8OjhCpucdcHbFpBbXMyZ1NoRzA/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8OjhCpucdcHN3ZqVlFHRVE3OUk/view?usp=sharing Of course this is USMC Black one of my favorite colors. After the 45 minutes of buffing and more buffing we will see how it comes out. Let me know what you guys think. Shop Gnome Out! Quote
Members AndersenLeather Posted July 21, 2015 Members Report Posted July 21, 2015 I use a "MOLOTOW™ empty marker 311 EM" for applying dye to the edges. This is by far the best method I tried. Quote
Members veedub3 Posted July 21, 2015 Members Report Posted July 21, 2015 This is what I have been using for a few years now. I have both the fine tip and the fat tip, but what you showed it practically does the same thing. Pour the dye in, then start edging. I get mine from where I purchase my Angelus dyes (Turtlefeathers.net), but I think Dharma Trading carries them too. Karina Quote
Members Ringer Posted July 29, 2015 Members Report Posted July 29, 2015 I was shown with a stick and some wool tied on the end. I've found this really messy! I always end up with a few stray fibres straying and dyeing where I didn't want to. Very frustrating! To me, this in ingenious!! Thanks so much for sharing Quote
carr52 Posted August 7, 2015 Report Posted August 7, 2015 I like to use a black or any color needed felt tip laundry marker. I figure if it doesn't come off in the laundry it should be a good permanent edge marker. Tom Quote
