Members natenaaron Posted August 13, 2015 Members Report Posted August 13, 2015 This is probably a dumb question Lets say I am making a notebook cover. I want to line it so there is a flesh side on the outside and inside. I like the 6-7 oz leather for my covers. If I line it with a 2-3 oz leather does that in effect make it a whopping 8-10 oz leather cover which is way to thick? Should I adjust the outside cover by using a 4-5 oz leather? Quote

Moderator Art Posted August 13, 2015 Moderator Report Posted August 13, 2015 Uh huh. If you can find Nubuck leather, that uses a sueded grain side, and of course flesh on the flesh side. Art Quote

So the middle whould still be pretty thick right? Would you skive both outer and liner piece? Moving into nubuck would tax my already strained mind. Quote
Members 25b Posted August 13, 2015 Members Report Posted August 13, 2015 Yeah, I'd skive the edges of the outside layer and the inner liner...just to reduce the bulk on the edges. Yes, it will be thicker in the middle...but that's what I do on my wallets and field notes cases...it works pretty well... Quote
