Members BradB Posted December 3, 2008 Members Report Posted December 3, 2008 That looks great! I LOVE the wood grain on the cross, I think you nailed the wood affect! Quote
Members Go2Tex Posted December 3, 2008 Members Report Posted December 3, 2008 Exactly. Good job on the wood grain. So, how'd ya do it? That vinegaroon method works great, eh? Did you soak the project in it or use a dauber/applicator? The photo appears to show the fine cuts didn't get dyed. Quote
Members Sawyer Posted December 3, 2008 Author Members Report Posted December 3, 2008 Thanks for the compliments. when i started this project i had no idea how i was going to do wood grain, i have done small things that i would scratch and it looked OK , but this big of a cross would show the scratching too much. I started looking at wood and grain and i downloaded pictures of wood grain and practiced on scape with the swivel knife until it looked OK. The vinegaroon was applied with sheep wool, it is dyed all over and in the cracks, it's just a bad photo. Quote
