Members knockout Posted December 3, 2008 Members Report Posted December 3, 2008 Got this new blade for my Birthday last month really like the knife it really needed a new place to hang. Pics are front empty, back side empty, and with my new blade. Quote
Members 8thsinner Posted December 3, 2008 Members Report Posted December 3, 2008 I think your carving came out really well. But you have got to get more practice with using an awl. I suggest using a template to start with, even if the holes are boared wonky, it won't show up as much as trying to go through more than one layer at a time. Quote
Members knockout Posted December 4, 2008 Author Members Report Posted December 4, 2008 You are 100 percent correct about the awl,and 99% of the time I use a stitching spacer and a groover to set the thread below the surface, Truth be told, I was in a hurry and was being more than a little lazy and really didn't think it showed that bad but it does. Randyc Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 I like it. Very cool carving and color. Randy Quote
Ambassador Beaverslayer Posted December 4, 2008 Ambassador Report Posted December 4, 2008 Yes the color, what color is this? It's the first thing I noticed, and it looks quite nice. Ken Quote

Members gicts Posted December 4, 2008 Members Report Posted December 4, 2008 amazing carving. If you could exaggerate the wave of the stitching to make it look like it is supposed to not be straight I think it would look much better. Another option is to cover the side with a strip of another material and restitch. Quote
Members Rayban Posted December 6, 2008 Members Report Posted December 6, 2008 Such a terrible thing to do to a dead cow.... Quote
Members knockout Posted December 7, 2008 Author Members Report Posted December 7, 2008 not to that long ago I decided that the worst thing you could say to a leatherworker is "A cow had to die for that" thanks Rayban Quote
