Leather Adhesive Help Needed

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm curious what the best leather adhesives/cements are. I make custom leather bags, accessories (belts, cuffs....) and some miscellaneous pieces like wall hangings and leather tile rugs. I'm curious which adhesives/cement people are using and for what. There are a ton to choose from.

Could I get some suggestions for what I might use for larger projects like leather tile rugs and wall hangings and what I should use for smaller stuff like leather cuffs and bags... Any advice on the best brands/suppliers would be so appreciated!!

Curious if there's another suggestion for one I can use indoors w/ less fumes? I have 2 studios, one has ventilation and the other doesn't...

Contact cement is the best thing to use. There are some water based contact cements, Tandy sells one, but it is not as good as the old standard, kill you with the fumes, Contact cement. I too use Weldwood Red label. It works. If you have a window you can build an exhaust hood for less than 25.00 USD.
