Members JEFFJAMES Posted December 9, 2015 Members Report Posted December 9, 2015 My father was a close friend of Audie Murphy. Audie kept his horse at my father's ranch along with his saddle. The saddle is engraved with Audie's name. Audie gave the saddle to my father in the 1960's. When my father passed away 5 years ago, I inherited the saddle. It has been sitting in my house ever since. I want to find out more about the saddle maker. I believe it was San Fernando Saddlery that made it, but I am not sure. There are no identifying marks on the saddle other than a large serial number under the front. Can anyone help me identify the maker of this saddle. Thanks, Jeff Quote

Members Saddlebag Posted January 24, 2016 Members Report Posted January 24, 2016 It appears to be a Simco. I have a rope of this era and they style is identical, just the finish differs. These are tough saddles, made with all the best materials at that time. Even the hides were thicker. Quote
Members JEFFJAMES Posted January 25, 2016 Author Members Report Posted January 25, 2016 (edited) Thank you Saddlebag. What do you mean by rope? Do you mean a roping saddle? Can you send me a picture. Thank you very much. Edited January 25, 2016 by JEFFJAMES Quote
