Machine stitching is no problem. Much easier if you wet form the angles in the gusset piece and then glue it well before stitching. If you do it on a flatbed, the front stitch is the bottom side, so it is not as nice looking. Cylinder arms, at least with this bag design, only helps you keep the nice side on the front.

I do it with standard smooth bottom walking feet. If clearance is low, a right side foot may help however i havent needed it.
