clairmullin Report post Posted December 9, 2008 Hi, My name is Clair Mullin and I am new to this website so I thought I'd introduce myself. I did post some of my work in the "show off" place. Any way, I am a saddle maker and leather artisan from John Day - a tiny town in Eastern Oregon. I make western saddles, tack, chaps and chinks, handbags and briefcases...I make a lot of stuff because it all is interesting to me... I recently started making boots - what fun! I have made two pair now, so I still need all the help I can get, but so far I enjoy it. Here is a picture of my first pair of boots. I hope you like them... TomSwede Report post Posted December 9, 2008 Hello and welcome to the board Clair!! Nice boots! Bootmaking division is not the strongest part here but an occasionally pair surfaces now and then so it's a good thing with another pair aswell. Lots of other interesting stuff here. Tooling being the top category I think and lots of other stuff aswell. A very nice and friendly atmosphere and lots of people who is allways willing to share or give a hand. Coffee is allright but skip the donuts, they belong to the elderly and is prepped with formaldehyde Tom

clairmullin Report post Posted December 9, 2008 Good looking boots, are you going into the custom boot bussiness? Thanks! I don't know yet. I have to get a bunch of equipment so...I'll just see what I can find. Carving is probably my favortie thing to do and saddles are the main stay of my business at this time. But boots are fun to make too.
Hidemechanic Report post Posted December 11, 2008 Welcome Clair, Coincidently, I was in John Day yesterday(picked up a load of critters) I've thought about looking you up but always hate to drop in on someone without prior notice. Seen your work on your web site, but first found out about you while making deliveries on my JD-Burns run about a year ago, can't remember if it was a saddle or poster I saw in a window on the east end of town. I think I was delivering to a flooring store a couple doors down. Later I saw your sign on the way to Prairie City. Nice little place you have in God's Country. Look forward to seeing your contributions.GH(Redmond)
