Members valafar Posted January 22, 2016 Members Report Posted January 22, 2016 Hello I can split the leather for you Its best to send some extra pieces to test when splitting , I do not really offer the service but I am going to do a run of pieces for some saddles and can do what you need. The machine I use is a Camoga c-520-l you can look it up and see what it can do. Greg B www.gregallansaddlery.com

I searched all over Vancouver, looking for someone with a band knife that would do a job or two... Nice to find there is someone who is willing to do this type of thing. I may have some splitting coming up. pm sent "If nobody shares what they know, we will eventually all know nothing." "There is no adventure in letting fear and common sense be your guide"
Members kai1865 Posted October 26, 2017 Members Report Posted October 26, 2017 i know this is an old topic but here's my two cents: I use Horween Dublin, Essex, Chomexcel etc. for my wallet interiors and have found that the only reliable way to "split" the leather is with a Little Giant Razor Blade Plane from the 50's & 60's. It takes a little practice and alot of cursing but once you get the hang of it it goes pretty quick... helps me take 4-5 oz. down to lining thickness.
