Adler/chandler 067 Gk373 Bobbin Size

Recommended Posts

Hi, can anyone confirm what size bobbin the Chandler 67 GK373 takes? Various resources say type G (liek thread exchange) but when I bought some off ebay that claim to be for th Adler, they measure more like type L. I know many of you have/had this machine so any confirmation would be appreicated.

Wishful,

An Adler/Chandler 67GK373 uses a "G" size bobbin. The 167GK373 and the 267GK373 use the bigger bobbin. That is an 'L" size.

I always buy bobbins by original part number. I found it's the most reliable method to get bobbins (and other parts) that REALLY work in your machine. Many sewing machine manufacturers publish no information about their bobbins other than the bobbin's part number. I'm not sure why they're so secretive about that topic.

A size "G" bobbin may be the closest match to that part number, and if somebody makes a bobbin that's a close match to a "G" size, the two "close" steps may add up to trouble.

The Adler/Chandler 67GK373 Parts List shows the bobbin with part number "068 00 180 0" :

Ask your favorite vendor for that part number to get what you really need.

I order many small bits and pieces from Sharp Sewing on ebay, one of my personal go-to vendors for these things:

Thank you for the info Ewe and patcher. I have actually bought the bobbins from sharp sewing based on their description on eBay ( not part no.) They seem to work ok but I actually want to buy some pre wound bobbins and thread exchange indicates G for my machine. I measured the ones I have and they seems to be L so I want to be sure I get the right pre wound bobbins. The measurements I am referring to is from the thread exchange guide : http://thethreadexchange.com/downloads/the-thread-exchange_bobbin-style-guide.pdf .

The bobbins I got from sharp measure .359 in height when I measured with micrometer which makes them L according to chart. The diameter of L and G are similar but the height is different slight. I will probably call thread exchange but was hoping to have a definitive confirmation of proper size.

No wonder people are confused about bobbins when even the experts get them mixed up. According to the chart, the "L" size bobbin is actually smaller than the "G" size in both dimensions. I give up. Part numbers rule.

And what on earth is the point of a XSH bobbin that's 1mm in height?

But I actually like this bobbin size chart that you can print to scale and then put your bobbin right on the paper to compare:

After messing something up with my Adler 67 GK373, I took it to a sewing machine mechanic here, and discovered something that I thought I would add to this thread for the future use of the forum:

Most of the bobbins I'm finding online that supposedly fit this machine, also are claimed to fit the Pfaff 130. I have a 130, so I have been successfully using those bobbins in my 67 GK373, but my sewing machine mechanic sold me some bobbins that are slightly larger (longer in the axial direction) and they also work. I like the idea of using the largest bobbin that I can possibly fit into this machine, so I jumped at the chance to get some.

I'm pretty sure these bobbins are sold for use in the Juki LH-515 and LH-1152 and LU-562 and the Consew 225 & 226, and I found some here for about 50¢ apiece:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/BLACK-METAL-BOBBINS-FOR-JUKI-LH-515-LH-1152-LU-562-CONSEW-225-226/153596849446

The key specification for finding them online seems to be that they are 22mm diameter x 10mm high x 6mm bore, even though they don't seem to be marketed to owners of the Adler 67 GK373...
